Draft List - Lynn Massachusetts

Published in The Reporter on 13 July, 1863

Drafting to fill the quota of Lynn commenced at Mechanic Hall, Salem, at nine o'clock this morning, under the direction of Capt. Johnson, Provost Marshal of the Fifth District. The attendance of spectators was not very large, a large portion of those present were residents of Lynn, who were on the "anxious seats." The machine used for drafting was an octagon shaped tin arrangement aboui [sic] two feet in diameter and eighteen inches long. It was suspended by the centre, upon a framework, and turned with a crank.
